Figaro Sailing France April 2025

Finishing up in France for the time being but can’t wait to get back out to race these awesome boats again. Had a great opportunity at the end of Spi Ouest to get some solo training in and deliver a Figaro 3 from La Trinité-Sur-Mer to La Base in Lorient. Sailing into the base for French offshore sailing was a special moment and it is a place I wish to spend more time in the future. I had 22-30 knots of wind against the tide on the delivery causing for some steep chop, despite this the boat powered though at around 7 knots upwind most of the way. Managing all the different controls on a sailboat solo is definitely a challenge, especially while in harsh conditions but this is why its important to get out training in these conditions. The few weeks I’ve spent here were great, meeting so many legends of the sport and getting to sail with and against them has accelerated my learning massively. Bellow is the message written on the inside of the boat for when a bit of motivation goes a long way.
